Sriracha sauce is now something I regularly use in the meals I prepare. I really like the taste and the fact that you can taste it without it overpowering everything else. As my husband is a big fan (he practically puts some on everything short of chocolate), I decided to experiment a little bit and make some Sriracha hummus, to which I added some fresh lime juice. The result was a very positive one: fresh tasting and different.

For 5-6 servings

  • 1 can chickpea, drained
  • 2 tbs olive oil + extra if required
  • 1/4 cup + 1 tbs fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 1/4 tsp cumin powder
  • 1-3 tbs Sriracha sauce (to taste)

  1. In a food processor, add the chickpeas, olive oil, tahini, lime juice and cumin powder. Process until smooth and add 1 or 2 extra tablespoons of olive oil if the texture is to thick in order to get a creamy hummus.
  2. Add Sriracha sauce and mix well. I added 2 tbs this time and it was tasty without being too spicy but I recommend you start with one and see for yourself.

  1. I read the part about your husband loving sriracha too fast and thought you said he liked eating it on chocolate haha ;p
I’m actually not a huge fan of sriracha, but I’m just not a fan of spicy. One of my best friends LOVES it though and I was just trying to find something to bring to her place for a get together tomorrow, so I’ll make this =)

    • I am not a big fan of spicy either! By putting just 1 tbs of Sriracha, you can get the nice taste without the bite.
I hope your friend will like it! Have a nice time at your get together! 😊
